Bacolod Feast!

The people of Bacolod are known for their hospitality that makes them as the city of smiles. Aside from that Bacolod is also famous for it festive celebrations, beautiful places and of course it’s native delicacies.

For the last two years Bacolods chicken Inasal became a nationwide hit. Experiencing the authentic flavor of inasal was made easy by “Mang Inasal”. The country’s famous fast foodchain for chicken inasal.

Recently, we had to experience true Bacolod chicken Inasal in G strip at Greenhills. The store was named after the famous Bacolod dish. The store was designed with glamour, high ceiling, large chandelier, a grand stair case, tiffany hairs, and wall to wall glass window panels. The ambience was far from a typical Inasal restaurant, but they display photographs of people and events in Bacolod which makes them more unique. Their menu exhibits the famous Bacolod dishes. Most of the food listed are not very familiar, certain dishes can only be found in Bacolod like the KBL (Kadyos, Baboy, Langka), Molo soup and etc.

BCI is also known as Ysabella’s Chicken from taken from the tv teleryese of Judy  Anne Santos …Ysabella.

To start we got to enjoy a hot La Paz Batchoy(109.00php/serving) a noodle soup with rich beef broth. This perfect soup warms up our palate and increases our appetite.  This large bowl of this soup can serve up to 6 servings. Sakto lang tlga para sa amin J.

For our main course we got to order a complete meal. The Sarap Meals  is the special promo of BCI where you can almost enjoy everything for a low price.  For 199.00 php/plate we got to enjoy a big chunck of Chiken Inasal [you can choose either the wing part or the thigh part], a steamy fried rice top with brown garlic, a Eggplant Salad [a combine chopped tomato, onion, eggplant, and garlic], a high ball of refreshing ice tea and to top it all a cup of cold, sweet Buko pandan salad. Super Sulit talaga!

My tito, and titas can’t even finish there meal is a two thumps up! Busog ka na nakatipid k p!

Walking in Alabang under the tremendous heat almost kills us! Our umbrellas can not withstand the intense wind but giving up is not on our vocabulary. It’s seems some places in Alabang are really hard to pass by public vehicles, private cars and taxis are the only possible way to escape the extreme weather. We no longer wanted to be kuripot cause the only way to survive is to ride on a air-condition vehicle. We took on a taxi to go in Sea Oil business Center to apply in Acacia. The 120 peso ride really took off our senses and feel relief. We are almost done with our first objective when we landed our feet in (ATC) Alabang town Center.

Looking for refreshments was our intention to quench our thirst but we decided to eat to re regain our energy. Again, we look for a place wherein we not normally eat. There’s a lot of options in ATC but we priorities where we can enjoy most. We chose Shakey’s Pizza! Who can’t resist pizza? J Yum! Right?...  Jelyn wanted to have individual meals but I suggest that it is more affordable if we chose to have a group meal. Lowest price possible for a group of 4 was D1 (600 php); consist of a large Spaghetti plate, 1 pitcher of Cold Iced Tea and of course a 12 inch pan pizza.
The spaghetti with 7 pcs. Garlic bread was first one to be served. Al dente spaghetti  pasta top with meaty spaghetti sauce enlighten our palate. I volunteer myself to equally serve them on their plate, well I guess my Tantsa skills was wrong hahaha anyway it wasn’t unfair. Forbidden stories where told while enjoying our meal! J it took 15- 20 minutes before the Meat pizza was served. A thin crust pizza top with meat, pepperoni, onion, bell pepper and course lots of cheese completes our meal!

It really was a great experience with Yen, Jelyn and most especially to Jerz.  It’s not bad for a first time right Jerz? J Feeling great and satisfied we step out of shakey’s with smile.

Food trip turned into Laugh Trip

Yen invited us to have a food walk in elbi. I was surprised “anlayo kaya nan elbi sa sta. rosa J”  but on my part it was a cool idea.

Yen, Jelyn, Armie and I started our adventure by enticing our sweet tooth in Michas’s ; one of the famous pastry house in elbi.  Mouth watering pastries are displayed in front of naked eyes. We really want to buy almost everything but we have to try something else.  All we see is a must try but we only order Silvanas [10.00php / pc], Carrot Cup Cake [15.00php/pc], Choco Cream Puff [15.00php/pc], and Cheese Cake.  A sweet treat reminds us of our baking class with ma’am Ycon. Endless stories filled our way to our next destination.

Raymundo gate was famous for its street foods; from kwek-kwek down to the famous Isaw. Name it they have it. When we approach the “ihaw-ihaw store” we got to see different groups of individuals collides to buy their own ihaw.  The store is also famous for its proven (fried chicken skin) but unfortunately, the tindera told us “ubos na ang proven”. We don’t have a choice but to look for something else. Luckily, we saw a small store just across the street. Selling turon [8.00php/pc], cheese stick [12.00 php/order], banana con heilo [10.00php/order]. We got each one of which and eat it while seating on a stool. Crazy talk and unending laughter make our experience more exciting.

As we walk our foot led us to Tresto; a small restaurant and bar in FO Street. As we step inside, picnic tables, benches, lavish green grass and great landscape explains the outdoor theme of the resto. As the nights falls, yellow lights are on that adds a romantic feeling in the area. We took on a sit were we can enjoy the whole atmosphere. Aside from the attractive ambience food is also there main assets. It offers Lechon Kawali [83.00php/plate],Beef teriyaki [73.00php/plate],Chicken salpicao [63.00php/plate]and breaded Porkchop [63.00php/plate] and other meals for very affordable prices. Add 7 pesos and you will have a cold and refreshing ice tea. As we enjoy our food jerz came in and join us. He ordered beef teriyaki, while getting done with his dinner we order fries. We got a lot of baong chika kaya we cherish all the moments! J

After filling our stomach we went to baker field and enjoy the rest of the evening with more stories. It was an evening of nice food and great bonding! J

Double Down

It was a tiring and exhausting day in school, so me and Marise went to SM to be refreshed.  We go for a long walk and purchase some stuff until we feel our hunger.  Marise was craving for fries, so when we say fries saan p? edi dito lng sa Mcdo. We went to Mcdo but unfortunately Mcdo was fully occupied, so we look for somewhere else were marise will still enjoy Fries. Until we end up to KFC. The store was also crowded but we find our ways to have a sit. We ask a table of two girls who already sited but has extra sits for two. And we’re lucky to have those seats. So I took the order while marise is seating. She ordered Spaghetti [60php], Large ice tea [add 8.00php], mashed potato [28.00php] and of course French fries [24.00php].
My stomach is already growling when I went to fall in line. I saw a crew roaming around to get orders. But I don’t have my orders yet when I went to the counter. But I want to have a heavy meal to fill up my empty stomach. The poster of the double down catches my attention. But I’m thinking twice because it may trigger my allergies. Sarcastically, way back in high school I always eat lunch in KFC and most of the time I order the famous 1 pc. Chicken meal [88.00php]. I want to try this new product, so I decided to purchase it.
Some of my friends already fall in love with Double down® and they say it’s a must try. I got my orders and I’m ready to eat. While Holding the sandwhich you can feel the warmth a good sign that it was freshly cooked. Opening the paper wrapper you can already what inside, it was so meaty, that literally there is no room for a bun.  I took a bite and it really tastes good. The chicken was so soft and cooked just right. You can really taste the different ingredients in just one bite. The recipe was simple, but the taste was really explosive. It was made of two piece bacon, one melted slice of cheese, colonels sauce sandwich in two thick original boneless chicken filets. All I can say is yum! CC
This product will absolutely fill you’re hungry appetite. Enjoy this for a price of 100php [ala carte], 115php [with drink] and 135php [with fixin and drink].

Eat to your health’s delight!

I always choose what I eat. Ironically, I do not follow any diet plan or guide to be healthy. But I always see to it that the food is fresh and nutritious.  I regularly eat 5 times a day but in small portion, I remember my mom always scold me “ang konti mo naman kumain!” well is true but I’m not Pihikan. But there are foods that I not regularly eat specially seafood’s. I’m envy with those who do not have allergies, they can indulge there self in everything they want to eat. Like the famous alimasag and alimango. I don’t recognize difference between the two not until I watch Matanglawin with our legendary Kuya Kim. According to him alimasag are the red crabs with thin and long claws, while the alimangos are the blue crabs, with sharp and rounded claws. As much as possible I try to counter act this allergies by eating them, but as they say it was an epic failure.

Most people patronize fast food chains because of its affordability and convenience. I seldom purchase these products, not only because of the preservatives added but also it’s not very gastronomically satisfying.  I rather eat simple food in kainan or push cart with kwek-kwek, proven (balat nan manok), isaw and other street food. Madumi na! masarap pa! [kidding aside].  On the other hand, famous coffee shops are invading our country by storm. Students, yuppies and the like are fan to dine in that famous logo with a curly girl in green.  Like other brands, buying there product shows a certain degree to attain that status symbol.

Nowadays, people tends to be health conscious and try to eat organic. This practice needs a lot of discipline; eating fresh vegetable with no meat at all is a sacrifice for people who are meat lovers. For some they substitute meats with Tofu (processed soy). Herbs and spices are usually used to add more flavor to veggies. Eating greens suggest that you are healthy, for me it’s not. You may lack of the best nutrients that keeps you away from sickness like the Omega 3 from fish oils, which prevent us from heart dieses, Protein from meat that keeps us strong and alert. They say they have substitutes, but it’s not enough to sustain our body needs.

I wonder why people follow a trend… Are they really wanted to be fit and healthy or just to  get fin in with the society? Well it’s for you to find out. We got of lot option in the market, it s not only how you can make you feel healthy in the outside but also in the inside.  We all have different lifestyle but we must choose the proper food we intake. Over the counter foods [instant noodles, microwaveable foods and etc.] can be bad to your health.  You must respect your body and not abuse it. Always eat in moderation. Purchase items that you can consume. Be a wise spender, read labels and nutritional facts to see what the benefits are. And be yourself; buy for your own needs and not to be envy by others.   Remember WE ARE WHAT WE EAT!

Fond Talk @ Coffee Blends

After singing out of tune at Jerz party I decided to spend more time together with Yuki and DJ. I invite them to go out and stroll at the mall [SM Calamba] but our fate was changed. After riding the jeepney in a manner of seconds, traffic began to build up. We changed our plan and transfer to another jeepney. The manong driver talk with another driver and said:  Trapik hangang pansol may nagbuguang dalwang truck at may tumirik pang truck nan sundalo”. Our  senses was right, so we plan to have some talk in a coffee shop. After the 30 min ride we end up at Cofee Blends in UPLB.

The ambience of the area was incomparable.  The rustic tables and chairs create the mood to be cozier. Makes you feel at home, adding the coffee mugs/cups and personalized table cover on display. Good feedbacks, inspiring messages and photos are collaged on every table that makes them a good conversational piece. Most statements revealed the great taste of coffee blends in creating coffee and providing a good service. We take our orders in the counter and grab two magazines. We choose to sit in corner were we feel more comfortable.

While reading the previous issues of Marie Claire we started to enjoy the crisp of nachos dipped in creamy cheese [35.00 php]. After a while, Yuki and Dj shared the small portion of Oreo Cheesecake [55.00 php]. This simple dessert have three layers, the crust was made of oreo crumbs and the soft cheesecake top with small amount of whipped cream. The cream adds sweetness on the cheesecake, makes it to have more body. Meanwhile, I also savor the taste of Burrito [55.00php] filled with fresh tomatoes, onions, beef, lettuce, cucumber and drizzled with garlic sauce. The taste was really good, the peta bread was not overcharged (burned) so you can enjoy the whole flavor of the burrito. We pair it with the cool and refreshing taste of Ice tea [25.00php] and Fresh Mango Shake [30.00php].

Coffee blends is one of the pioneer coffee shop in Elbi. With 100 pesos you can already enjoy the coffee blends experience.  You can choose on there wide range of refreshments from hot coffees either caffeinated or decaf, cold refreshments; frappes, sodas and shakes.  They also provide side others like cheesecakes, cupcakes, sandwiches and nachos. There products are available at a very affordable prices, it caters specially for students who have a tight budget.
